When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July 2023
Pet’s AARF Name: Poe
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Storm
How is your adopted pet doing? Storm is such a joy. He’s fitting it nicely. His big brother, Reese, is his bestie. If they are awake, more than likely they are playing. They absolutely love chasing each other and playing hide and seek in their tunnels. We’re truly blessed to have been able to add him as an addition to our family.

Happy Tails For Duchess
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: 10/05/23
Pet’s AARF Name: Duchess
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Duchess
How is your adopted pet doing? She is adjusting great. Likes being a couch potato. Tolerates Rocky my 98 lb lab mix. She enjoys going to the breweries with me and my friends. We go on 2 mile walks most days. She is very flexible. Since I adopted her we have spent half of the time at my home in the mountains and the other half at my condo at Carolina Beach. My brother has a house here at the beach and she goes with me when I have dinner at their house. Makes herself right at home on their couch. Rocky was never allowed on the couch but he now thinks he should be able to join Duchess. She has brought great joy to my life. I did her DNA. She is 59% beagle, 10% pit bull, 8% boxer, 8% chow, 4% Rottweiler, 3% cattle dog, 2% border collie, 2% German Shepard, 2% Eskimo dog, 1% chihuahua, 1% wolf. I guessed Beagle because of ears, bark, and sniffs everything, pit because just about every mutt has a little pit and chow because of her tongue. Thank you for letting me adopt her.

Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Tigger
How is your adopted pet doing? Tigger is doing fantastic. He is my everything. When i went to adopt him, as soon as they opened the crate , he came over and crawled into my lap. Since then he and I have been inseparable. According to my adoption papers, today is his 2nd birthday. He loves cuddling, playing, riding in the car, and going outside on his leash. Thank you so much for allowing me to be his mom.
Happy Tails For Chester
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: Cookeville
Pet’s AARF Name: Chester
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Chester
How is your adopted pet doing? Chester has only been with me since 8/26. We have gone thru a lot of adjusting.
I made the commitment knowing he had some aggression issues.
So the 3rd day we started in house training with a great young trainer.
We have visited his new vet several times before our first “well” visit. So it wasn’t as stressful as it could have been.
We are still adjusting to our new calico sister and learning our boundaries. We actually all hung out in mom’s bed this morning!
We walk 1.5 miles just about every day and passed 2 roosters with a “leave it” command.
Yes, we still have some issues, but the trainer has given this pet mom corrections; and, hopefully one day I’ll be a good people greeter. If not, my mom has a nice fl room for me to hang out in. But my mom feels much safer on walks and at home. There’s always different ways to deal with different situations.
Chester is very loved and had no issues with the vet or groomer. So we are headed in the right direction.
Happy Tails For Coco
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 12, 2023
Pet’s AARF Name: Coco
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Coco
How is your adopted pet doing? Coco has been an absolute Godsend! She is the most loving little girl. She loves to play with new toys, nap in the warm sun, go on trips with me and just curl up and be as close as she can be. She has and is filling my life with so much joy and love when I needed it most. So thankful to have her!!
Happy Tails For Aqua
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 2023
Pet’s AARF Name: Aqua
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Goose
How is your adopted pet doing? Goose is the sweetest, most energetic little cataster I’ve ever encountered, and I love her to pieces! She’s always playful, and despite having a dozen real toys, her favorite is of course a shoestring. When she wants to play fetch, she’ll let me know by bringing a toy to me. She adores being held and carried, and she takes most of her naps on my lap. That said, the person she’s most attached to in the house is Banana, my roommate’s cat. After a careful introduction, she took to him immediately. She follows her big brother everywhere and they play all the time. He’s been much happier with a little sister around as well… even if she (8 lbs) does bully him (16 lbs) a bit lol. Goose seems to believe that she can camouflage herself by sitting in between two shoes. See: photo 1 as evidence!
Happy Tails For Ace
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: 9/2/23
Pet’s AARF Name: Ace
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Hank Walker
How is your adopted pet doing? Hank’s transition was easier than expected! His demeanor has been a perfect fit for our family- a good balance between zoomies and naps! We absolutely love hearing his snores, especially since losing our bulldog mix unexpectedly two years ago. He’s very patient with our 2 year old, and will wait to play with our 5 year old Golden until she’s ready to run. He is a sucker for belly rubs and always has his tongue hanging out, making his sweet face look even sweeter. Adopting Hank has been a blessing and we can’t wait to keep making new memories!
Happy Tails For Titan
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 20, 2023
Pet’s AARF Name: Titan
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Titan
How is your adopted pet doing? Titan is a great addition to our family. All three kids enjoy his spunky behavior and enjoy his cuddles. We are still working through the curious kitten stage, but he is learning the ropes well. Our dachshund was apprehensive about him at first, but has grown to enjoy his company. They love to play fight together! We are so grateful to have adopted him and bring him home, even though we were only in town for a soccer tournament.

Happy Tails For GOOSE
When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 2023
Pet’s AARF Name: GOOSE
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): GOOSE
How is your adopted pet doing? GOOSE has settled in and seems VERY HAPPY to be here. He gets on well with his new little brother Chico, a young Rat Terrier (also rescued). He’s now house trained, loves his daily walk, has a great appetite, gets full run of the house (he thinks he owns the place!) He’s grown and we think there’s more to come – he’s FAST and reminds us of a thoroughbred. We love him dearly and we’re lucky to have him as part of our family. Big thanks to AARF and Susan who fostered him for a while.
