Happy Tails For Finn

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 7, 2021
Pet’s AARF Name: Finn
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Duke (like the mayo…)
How is your adopted pet doing? When Finn came home to us, he told us he preferred to go by Duke.

Duke has adjusted quickly to his new home. He has three new brothers: two cats, Fatty and Greasy, and one English bulldog, Corndog. Duke loves to do parkour off of his brothers backs and scream-meow for food when his bowl is still full.

In his spare time, he is a hardworking baker and will make biscuits on any human surface he can: arms, legs, bellies, faces. You name it, he’s made a biscuit on it.

Duke has brought a lot of energy to our household, and we love him.

Happy Tails For Leia

Pet’s AARF Name: Leia
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Leia
How is your adopted pet doing? She’s great! My wife and I have loved her company. She is still a pup so she runs her energy out quickly then enjoys sleeping at our feet. So far we have sit, lay down, roll over, and shake down to a tee. Need to work on stay/come commands, but we have the time!

Happy Tails For Snickers

How is your adopted pet doing? He is doing amazing. He was super shy and timid but has really warmed up and loves to cuddle! He’s been accepted by our other cat and follows him wherever he goes. He still gets scared of loud noises but he’s become very affectionate toward us

Happy Tails For Quincy

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July 25th, 2021
Pet’s AARF Name: Quincy
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Max Dennison
How is your adopted pet doing? Max is doing so good! He adjusted extremely well into our home and got along with the other cats immediately. I was pretty surprised how smooth it went. My kids adore him and love how playful he is and he also gives the best cuddles at night. He’s a sweetie!

Happy Tails For Pirate Pete

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: 7/28/21
Pet’s AARF Name: Pirate Pete
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Pete
How is your adopted pet doing? Pete has become a part of our family real fast. He was very scared and always hiding at first but we built him a little fort in the living room so he could watch all the happenings without having to come out. Before we knew it, he would come out and watch t.v. of all things! He then learned where the food and litter box was and soon chummed up with his feline brother “Buddie” and canine sister “Doodles”. I think he likes them more then they him, but everyone is sleeping well at night on mom and dad’s bed 🙂 He loves playing with his toys, especially the balls and is the best fly killer we could as for. He is definitely a blessing!

Happy Tails For Abner

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July 2021
Pet’s AARF Name: Abner
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): D’Angelo
How is your adopted pet doing? D’Angelo took a ride from TN to PA in order to be with us, and was full of licks and kisses the moment he was handed to us. He hasn’t stopped since.

Part of our reason in adopting him is that we had recently adopted a slightly younger pup — a Deaf and partially blind Pomeranian who was a puppy mill rescue and who we thought could use a slightly older sibling to help show her the ropes. The two of them became instant BFFs and haven’t stopped entertaining us since.

Of course, being puppies, most of their time is spent wrestling and stealing toys from each other. But he’s been a great big brother and the two of them are inseparable. He is also a huge fan of our cats, who D’Angelo (aka D) and his sister Mishka happily let be a part of their wrestling matches and chasing each other around.

He is truly one of the happiest, peppiest puppies we’ve ever met; we describe him as “aggressively loving” because all he wants to do is meet every new creature (human or otherwise) he comes across, and give them kisses. Fortunately, his little face is impossible to resist and he’s building a small fan club everywhere he goes.

Though he was originally found as a stray, he has done remarkably well with everything from housebreaking to crate training to leash-walking, etc. He’s EXTREMELY athletic — can jump a good four feet in the air from a sitting position — and definitely prefers to view the world from as high up a perch as he can find (he’s a bit cat-like in a way), so we’re in the process of looking into some agility training for him, which we think he’d have a ball with.

He’s whip-smart and has learned basic commands in minutes. Of all the pets we’ve ever adopted, he has definitely been the quickest to jump right into the fray — honestly, within 10 minutes of stepping in the door he had found his favorite spot to sleep, picked out a favorite bed, etc.

While we would normally set up a meet-and-greet between our pups before adopting, sometimes you just see a pup and you “know.” There’s some sort of connection that happens where you just know that this animal was meant to be part of your life. It doesn’t happen often, but on the occasions it has, that sense has proven to be correct 100% of the time. D’Angelo is one of those dogs.

I should also say how great everyone at AARF was to work with — super friendly, helpful, honest, quick to respond to Qs, etc. It was a truly seamless process, particularly the transport part, which made it so much easier. I have shared your name and website with others I know who are looking for pets.

Thanks again for entrusting us with D’Angelo. He is deeply loved and it’s hard to remember a time where he wasn’t part of the family.

P.S. We joke that it’s very hard to get a great picture of D’Angelo because he’s ALWAYS moving, as the attached images will illustrate.

Happy Tails For Summer

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July 9th, 2021
Pet’s AARF Name: Summer
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Remi
How is your adopted pet doing? Remi has come out of her shell so much since I brought her home! She was very timid and scared of new people or environments, but now she is such a curious little kitten! She loves to chase her toys around the room and finds something new to explore every day. She also loves to cuddle and sleeps right next to me every night! I found the perfect little friend through AARF.

Happy Tails For Mabel

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July 3, 2021
Pet’s AARF Name: Mabel
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Mabel- but we usually call her Mae
How is your adopted pet doing? Mae is doing SO good! She was absolutely confused and scared for the first few days- she never had a real family or a real home before so she wasn’t sure what to do with it. It took some patience and gentle encouragement but over time, she went from tail always tucked to walking with her tail held high and a bounce in her step! She loves all sorts of treats and peanut butter! She isn’t really interested in toys but we recently found out she likes sticks!! She likes to play with other neighborhood dogs and is kind of a puncher- meaning she bops them in the head with her big bear paws! Lol
She is starting to get snuggly with us and loves to be right where we are and getting petted. She slept in the bed with us on her own accord for the first time and we were so excited! We can tell this is only the beginning of a lifetime of cuddles. She is such a calm and chill dog- she either spends her days in dad’s office as a “studio dog” on her favorite bench, or she comes to the flower shop with mom and is a “shop dog” where all customers melt over her (and she doesn’t even react- so well behaved!) we keep laughing because we have this perfect dog that we didn’t really have to train and cannot believe she just fell into our laps. We love her deeper each day- you can’t help it with her gorgeous eyes that stare into your soul! This is the dog we prayed for. I know our other dog Rory sent her straight from heaven. I know they’re secret friends. We love our Mae girl.
