When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 18, 2018
Pet’s AARF Name: Pumba
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Arlo
How is your adopted pet doing? I had so many heartbreaks in the last year while trying to adopt a dog from Petfinder. So many accepted applications from various rescues, but no dog to show for it. I wondered why the universe seemed intent on denying me the ONE thing I wanted so desperately…. and now I know. Arlo was always meant to be mine 🙂
When I look down at that adorable furry face, there’s one word that continuously comes to mind – grateful. He is everything I could’ve ever hoped for in a dog: loving, gentle, smart, and patient enough to try and win over my two (senior) indoor cats (who up until a month ago had never even seen a dog in their life).
Arlo greets total strangers like they’re his long-lost family, humans and canines alike. Everyone gets a barrage of slobbery puppy kisses and he whimpers as if he’s spent forever missing them, even though they just met. I work in the veterinary field, and am surrounded by dogs all the time. That’s why I feel I can say with total (slightly biased) authority, that he is the sweetest soul to ever walk on four feet.
He has fit so seamlessly into our family that it feels like he’s always been here. He brings so much love and laughter into our home and everyone is incredibly grateful to AARF (and especially Arlo’s original foster mom, Rebecca Samon) for bringing this wonderful furbaby into our lives…. though I’m sure my cats would respectfully disagree with those sentiments 🙂
