Happy Tails For Duchess

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 12, 2018
Pet’s AARF Name: Duchess
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Lola
How is your adopted pet doing? Lola is great! She is now 4 months old and weighs 30 lbs! Some of her favorite things include her stuffed animals (“Bunny” and “Teddy”), Nylabones, Kong balls, and rope toys. She also loves to nap, especially on hardwood floors with her tongue out. She greets are neighbors and other furry friends with a big smile, tail wag, and sniff. One neighbor even remarked, “She’s the talk of the neighborhood. She is so sweet!” Lola knows how to sit, shake, and lay on command. She uses her training bell to alert us when “it’s time to go” and has officially completed potty training. Lola is a growing girl who is not scared of anything besides the vacuum, weed eater, and mower. She loves to try to catch flying insects, chase rabbits, and meet new friends.

Taylor and I have been blessed with such a sweet, precious girl. It is hard to imagine our life without her in it. She definitely has us wrapped around her “paw”. We are so thankful for Lola’s foster mom, Rebecca Samon and AARF for finding her and her siblings, providing a loving home, and selecting us as her parents.

***Please enjoy the photos of a day in the life of Lola!***

Happy Tails For Pumba

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: August 18, 2018
Pet’s AARF Name: Pumba
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Arlo
How is your adopted pet doing? I had so many heartbreaks in the last year while trying to adopt a dog from Petfinder. So many accepted applications from various rescues, but no dog to show for it. I wondered why the universe seemed intent on denying me the ONE thing I wanted so desperately…. and now I know. Arlo was always meant to be mine 🙂

When I look down at that adorable furry face, there’s one word that continuously comes to mind – grateful. He is everything I could’ve ever hoped for in a dog: loving, gentle, smart, and patient enough to try and win over my two (senior) indoor cats (who up until a month ago had never even seen a dog in their life).

Arlo greets total strangers like they’re his long-lost family, humans and canines alike. Everyone gets a barrage of slobbery puppy kisses and he whimpers as if he’s spent forever missing them, even though they just met. I work in the veterinary field, and am surrounded by dogs all the time. That’s why I feel I can say with total (slightly biased) authority, that he is the sweetest soul to ever walk on four feet.

He has fit so seamlessly into our family that it feels like he’s always been here. He brings so much love and laughter into our home and everyone is incredibly grateful to AARF (and especially Arlo’s original foster mom, Rebecca Samon) for bringing this wonderful furbaby into our lives…. though I’m sure my cats would respectfully disagree with those sentiments 🙂

Happy Tails For Hunter

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: July, 2018
Pet’s AARF Name: Hunter
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): still Hunter
How is your adopted pet doing? Hunter enjoys his Saturday morning Puppacino at Starbucks, has daily walks and playtime each day and has chewed threw through 4 large rawhide bones since July. We continue to deal with some health issues; he is happy with pill pocket treats but not frequent baths. He has proven himself trustworthy enough to leave the crate overnight and has a very comfy bed in front of the fireplace. Hunter enjoys people but not other dogs. We continue to bond as a family being convinced we were meant to be together.

Pet’s AARF Name: Fizz
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Pepper
How is your adopted pet doing? Pepper is the sweetest dog ever. We absolutely adore him. We call him our shadow because he follows us around hoping for pets. He had patches of missing hair because of his flea bite dermatitis. We put him on some medicine and now his patches are filling up! He loves walks and car rides (surprisingly). He greets us at the door with his cute underbite smile. He has already learned his name and he comes when called. He loves listening to music and cuddling with his humans.

Happy Tails For Jelena

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: 8/18/2018
Pet’s AARF Name: Jelena
Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Pepe Jelena
How is your adopted pet doing? Pepe Jelena adjusted more quickly than I anticipated and has been a true joy from the first moment we met. I was told that “she knows no stranger” and “squeals”. That is so true. She squeals and wags her tail at every person that walks by.

Pepe Jelena loves to snuggles, enjoys her daily routine which includes many belly rubs and is learning to take long walks to explore her new home and environment. Most recently, she has learned how to play with her new toys.

Thank you A.A.R.F. for helping Pepe Jelena find her new home in Western New York. We look forward to years of new adventures. (woof, woof from Pepe Jelena)
