Cumberland County, TN Animal Shelter Needs Your Help

We have a major crisis happening here in Cumberland County, TN and have about 48 hours to react. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays but we will help coordinate rescue pulls.

The Cumberland County Animal Shelter employees are all out due to injury and / or illness. The shelter is understaffed and depending on volunteers.

The County is coming in to take control and have determined that there are too many dogs and will euthanize nearly 50% of what is currently there.  According to the volunteer coordinator, 75% of the 100 plus animals there are adoptable.

This shelter receives very little traffic and until recently very little support.

We have 48 hours to save the lives of 50 dogs…and we need help.  If you would kindly forward to anyone who can assist, these animals would be forever grateful.  As we all know, this is no one’s fault but the irresponsible pet owners… and the county is just looking out for the safety and wellbeing of all of the volunteers now.  We are in the process of working on an adoption center for this county to have a place to transfer these animals in the future.

Where can I find out about the dogs specifically. While I can’t take many, I may be able to take a foster one or two. I do rescue here in Putnam County and live in Monterey. Let me know.

The Shelter needs volunteers to help clean, take photos and update Petfinder, and then we will need local foster homes for the dogs that we are going to pull. Thank you for caring!!
