Happy Tails For Doug

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: October 2016

Pet’s AARF Name: Doug

Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Hammer

How is your adopted pet doing? Hammer came to us in October 2016 after the loss of our other dog. He’s truly spoiled and loved. And stubborn. But loved. Because of him, we adopted another rescue– Hammer’s brother, Bear. We are a lucky family.

Happy Tails For Moose

When did you adopt your pet from AARF?: April 2016

Pet’s AARF Name: Moose

Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Moose

How is your adopted pet doing? Moose is my world. I’m a 30 y/o single young professional woman and Moose is my first dog. It’s been a learning experience for both of us – mostly in funny ways – but no matter what, every single day has been full of love and laughter.

I come home every day on lunch to play with him and go on a quick walk. Many think I do it for him, but that is only partially true. It’s the best part of my day too 🙂

He has so many dog friends. He loves all dogs so much and enjoys going to daycare twice a week where all the canines and human employees love him both the same. The girls at the vet’s office play favorites toward him as well.

He comes with me anywhere he’s allowed. He’s high energy but recently started learning that cuddling can be pretty great too. He never disliked humans, but he showed very little interest in human interaction for the first few months. That’s starting to change now too, realizing humans generally lead to lots of petting and usually some yummy treats.

He eats only healthy food and treats, but I live next to a breakfast diner and the cooks love to sneak him Canadian bacon out the back door when I’m not looking 🙂 he loves sitting on the porch for hours on end and watching the hungry people come and go from the restaurant, and he doesn’t bark at all – unless he sees a squirrel of course.

We have a happy little life together. I never realized I was lonely before him but now I truly can’t imagine our lives without each other. He’s my sweet little rascal and he brings so much happiness to not only me but family, friends, and people all throughout the community.

I have tried so hard to learn his story because he does have some anxiety that is triggered in very specific situations. We manage just fine and avoid these triggers, but of course I am painfully curious to learn about the first 6 months (estimated) of his life.

Only tonight did I think to read his rabies certificate closer and that brought me to this website! What a wonderful group of heroes you have here!!

If you’re able to put me in touch with Moose’s foster angels and/or the volunteers who invested time, love, and resources into bringing us together, it would truly be a Christmas miracle.

Before my career was steady, I always felt like I just needed someone to take a chance on me and invest in me a little. That opportunity finally came for me in January and now I am soaring. I feel as though Moose and I needed the same kind of faith from a caring stranger and we were both lucky enough to be blessed with that in 2016.

Thank you so much, keep fighting the furry fight! I am forever indebted to you and am thrilled and honored to have finally found the organization that rescued my little buddy, and look forward to donating and supporting your efforts for years to come.

Pet’s New Name (if you changed it): Evee

How is your adopted pet doing? I wanted to adopt a dog so badly but with a young daughter I was having a hard time finding a suitable match on the East coast. After putting in my application, I was contacted by the foster mom saying she chose me BECAUSE of my child! Having several young children herself, she knew that Evee would be perfect and would love the attention. She is the best dog I have ever had, and we love her so so much! I recommend AARF to everyone and would definitely adopt from you again!
